My Cute Grandpa

My grandfather is well-known for his seriousness. He never jokes and seldom smile. There's a big gap between him and his children or grandchildren. After listening to some old-time stories about him, I find that he is actually very cute.
.

Story 1:

(This happened 40 years ago)

.

Once upon a time, a salesman came to my grandfather's house.

Salesman : Sir, our company has come out with this new product.....Blah blah blah...

Grandpa : I'm not interested...

Salesman : It's okay. I can explain to you about the multi-function product in details later. Sir, you can register your name now and our company will give you a free gift straight away. It's totally free. With your information with us, we can post you the brochures about the newest product of our company. And discounts are given for members only.

Grandpa : No, thanks.

Salesman : I'll help you register now. Sir, may I know what is your name?

Grandpa : Ok, since you insist, I'll let you know my name. I'm Muhammad Ali.

Salesman : ....................................

Story 2 :

( This happened last Thursday )

.

"Ring.......ring........ring". The phone rang for quite a long time. My grandpa picked up the phone.

Grandpa : Hello. Who is this?

Small kid : Dad.....dad......Help!!!! Help!!!! I've been kidnapped! *sobs

Grandpa : Tell me what is your name.

Small kid : *keep on crying....I am your son...help me, dad....I'm scared....

Grandpa : You have to tell me your name first. What is your name?

(Mr. X takes over the phone from the kid.)

Mr. X : Your kid has been kidnapped. You have to pay me RM 100,000. If not, his limbs will be chopped off one by one.

Grandpa : Yeah, I know. I watch television and this is what happens when you kidnapped somebody.

Mr. X : So, you know what to do?

Grandpa : If you have kidnapped my kid, you have to give me the chance to verify whether he is really my kid. Now, pass the phone to him.

Mr. X : Cannot.

Grandpa : What's his surname?

Mr. X : His surname is your surname lar....

Grandpa : How old is he?

Mr. X : Eh...why ask so many questions. You know you have how many children or not?

Grandpa : Of course I know. I have eight children, 5 sons and 3 daughters.

Mr. X : Then, you know where they are or not?

Grandpa : Yeah. All of them are married. Some of them are in United States and some of them are in Peninsular Malaysia.

Mr. X : A loh...The one with me now is from United States de lahhhh....

Grandpa : How old is he?

Mr. X : 30+

Grandpa : I don't have children of that age....

Mr. X : Ah, soli....he is around 20+....

Grandpa : Not even close....

Mr. X : Give me the money or I'll kill him now.

Grandpa : He is not my child.

Mr. X : Then why did you talk to me for so long? .............( Hang up the phone ).

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My 87 year-old grandpa actually talked to the guy for more than 30 minutes. He knew from the beginning that this is a fake phone call from some desperate guy. My grandpa was questioning and screwing him up like a CID. Believe it or not? An 87 year-old man who is still so alert and clear-minded....He has finally found another soul mate to talk to....=P
I think it's a waste of time and is very unlucky....for the caller....LOL!!!! If I am Mr. X, I would have banged my head on the wall....
Hectic Life in Form Six
Form 6 is forever a no-no for all the SPM graduates. Why?
.
Reason 1:
It is super tough. Although there are only five subjects to be studied (i.e. less than half of the total number of subjects in SPM), the books are as thick as the stratosphere. You'll get giddy just by looking at the thickness of the books. You have 3 thick books for Chemistry (Physical, Organic & Inorganic), 2 not-so-thick-but-packed-with-trivial-facts Biology books, 1 textbook for General Studies, also needs excellent memories. These 6 books are the silent killers for Form 6 students in the Science stream....
.
Reason 2:
STPM is the second toughest examination in the whole world after the x(unknown) examination in Russia(this is what I heard). UPSR, PMR and SPM are organized by Lembaga Peperiksaan Malaysia(LPM), while STPM is organized by Majlis Peperiksaan Malaysia(MPM). The standard is higher compared to SPM because the examination board will not alter the grading system based on the overall performance of all candidates. Compare the past year results for SPM and STPM, and you'll know the difference.
.
Reason 3:
Form 6 students are studying in government schools. Therefore, it's compulsory for this group of students to take part in extra curricular activities and to strike a balance between academic and co-curricular performances. This indirectly causes students to lose focus in their studies. If this ever happens, then your chances of getting a place in local universities will definitely decrease. For non-Bumis, think of your ranking in the quota system.
.
Reason 4:
You are wasting your two years studying Form 6 if you didn't do well in STPM. Its quite hard for you to squeeze yourself into any local universities even if you get, let say 2A 1A- 1B in STPM. You know why? Because you have great competitors emerging out from Matriculation. They can get 4.00 CGPA easily compared to an STPM candidate. Attendance and assignments are taken into account and are given marks in Matrics. The exam questions are set by the lecturers in the campus. Before the exam, the lecturer usually will say," Yesterday, I dreamt of the exam questions......." I bet you know what happened next. Even if the Form 6 students put in 10 times the effort to do well in STPM, they can hardly outstand the Matrics students. The reasons are clear.
***
In Form 4 and 5, we always say, "Arh, I will never study Form 6!!"...Please do not make such statement too early because you will never know what is waiting for you at the end of the road. I did so while I were in Form 5. But at the end, I still end up in Form 6. LOL!!!
In my case, although Form 6 life is really hectic, I treasure every second I have now and just trying to make the best out of everything in Form 6. I know this is the road that God wants me to take. So, Hakuna Matata!! =P
The Wisdom In Hot Chocolate
A group of graduates, well established in their careers, were discussing their lives at a class reunion. They decided to go visit their old university professor, now retired, who was always an inspiration to them.
During their visit, the conversation turned to complaints about stress in their work, lives and relationships.
Offering his guests hot chocolate, the professor went into the kitchen and returned with a large pot of hot chocolate and an assortment of cups. Some cups were porcelain, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite. He invited each to help themselves to the hot chocolate.
When they all had a cup of chocolate in hand, the professor shared his thought.
"Notice that all the nice looking, expensive cups were taken, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones."
"While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourself, that is the source of your problems and stress."
"The cup that you are drinking from adds nothing to the quality of the hot chocolate. In most cases, it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink."
"What each of you want was hot chocolate, not the cup....But you consciously went for the best cup."
"And soon, you began to eye one another's cup."
"Now friends, please consider this....."
"Life is the hot chocolate.....
Your job, money, position in the society are the cups."
"They are just tools to hold and contain life."
"The cup you have does not define, nor does it change, the quality of life you are living."
"Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we failed to enjoy the hot chocolate God has provided us."
Always remember this.....
"God brews the chocolate, He does not choose the cup."
"The happiest people don't have the best of everything."
"They just make the best of everything that they have."
Live Simply......
Love Generously......
Care deeply......
Speak Kindly......
Leave the rest to God
Remember
~The richest people is not the one who has the most, but the one who needs the least~
Enjoy your hot chocolate!
God Always Answers Prayer
When the idea is not right God says "No".
No ~ When the idea is not the best.
No ~ When the idea is absolutely wrong.
No ~ When it though help you, it could create
.........problems for someone else.
When the time is not right God says "Slow".
What a catastrophe it would be if God answered
every prayer at the snap of your fingers.
Do you know what would happen?
God would become your servant,
not your master.
Suddenly,
God would be working for you
instead of you working for God.
Remember,
God's delays are not God's denials.
God's timing is perfect.
Patience is what we need in prayer.
When you are not right, God says "Grow".
The selfish person has to grow in unselfishness.
The cautious person must grow in courage.
The timid person must grow in confidence.
The dominating person must grow in sensitivity.
The critical person must grow in tolerance.
The negative person must grow in positive attitudes.
The pleasure-seeking person must grow in
compassion for suffering people.
When everything is all right, God says "Go".
Then miracles happen:
A hopeless alcoholic is set free!
A drug addict finds release!
A doubter becomes as a child in his belief.
Diseased tissue responds to treatment,
and healing begins.
The door to your dream suddenly swings open
and there stands God saying, "Go!"
~ Dr. Robert Schuller~
If the Lord has you on hold... hold on!
If the Lord has said "NO" to you... thank Him!
If the Lords is molding your heart and mind... go with His change!
If the Lord opens doors that you have asked Him to open... Praise Him!
Be blessed wherever you are in your life today!
God has His hands on the situation!
Jay Chou 周杰伦
I am currently addicted to Jay Chou's new album -- Capricorn, especially songs like 稻香、给我一首歌的时间、兰亭序 and 说好的幸福呢......
Here's the full MV of 稻香 I found on YouTube. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do... (^.^)
Lyrics
对这个世界如果你有太多的抱怨
跌倒了 就不敢继续往前走
为什么 人要这么的脆弱 堕落
请你打开电视看看
多少人为生命在努力勇敢的走下去
我们是不是该知足
珍惜一切 就算没有拥有
还记得你说家是唯一的城堡
随著稻香河流继续奔跑
微微笑 小时候的梦我知道
不要哭 让萤火虫带著你逃跑
乡间的歌谣永远的依靠
回家吧 回到最初的美好
不要这么容易就想放弃
就像我说的
追不到的梦想换个梦不就得了
为自己的人生鲜艳上色
先把爱涂上喜欢的颜色
笑一个吧 功成名就不是目的
让自己快乐快乐这才叫做意义
童年的纸飞机 现在终於飞回我手里
所谓的那快乐
赤脚在田里追蜻蜓追到累了
偷摘水果被蜜蜂给叮到怕了
谁在偷笑呢
我靠著稻草人 吹著风 唱著歌 睡著了
哦哦 午后吉它在虫鸣中更清脆
哦哦 阳光洒在路上就不怕心碎
珍惜一切 就算没有拥有
还记得你说家是唯一的城堡
随著稻香河流继续奔跑
微微笑 小时候的梦我知道
不要哭 让萤火虫带著你逃跑
乡间的歌谣永远的依靠
回家吧回 到最初的美好
A Trip To Damai Puri Resort
I just came back from Damai Puri Resort today.
Guess what? This is my first time experiencing long-distance driving after getting my P-license beginning of this year!!! The journey was quite fun actually, with two cars escorting me, in front and behind. I am finally a Very Important Person....LOL!
After checking in, I took a short walk with my mum and her colleagues around the newly-renovated Damai Puri Resort & Spa. Pity them, after millions or money spent on the renovation, we can't really spot much differences. The most obvious renovation made is the swimming pool. They merge all the pools into one big pool besides having a small jacuzzi-like spa pool at the edge.
Returning back to my room, I dived into the bed and took a nap. Its 3:20pm when I woke up. As I was preparing to go swimming, two of my roommates ( my mum's colleague's daughters ) came back. What I saw was two black ladies, standing in front of me. Oh my gosh, one of them has turned into pieces of charcoal. Seriously. And the other one resembled a lobster that is well cooked. That terrifies me. I held back and decided to put my swimming suit back into my suitcase. We went swimming after the sun tones down a bit.
.
One funny incident happened after we had our dinner in the hotel room. My mum was putting out her towel at the balcony. And I followed her out and was watching the magnificient sunset. Then, I heard the sound of the balcony door being locked. I turned back and yelled at my mom. I even knocked at the glass door. She looked at me and stood still, looking shocked. After about 10 seconds, she opened the door and laughed non-stop.
I asked her,."What happened to you?"
.
She said,"I thought what I saw was a reflection of yours. I thought you are in the room, standing facing the glass door and trying to fool me..." Isn't she funny?
At night, two 21-year-old male teacher came to our room to play games with the two Form Three girls in my room, I am not included though. Why? Like what my friends said, I am too conservative. Actually, I'm NOT. It's just that the punishments given to losers of the game are scary.
I don't know what is the name given to that game. It has something to do with wooden blocks, being stacked up, and the players are supposed to withdraw one wooden block at a time. The one who makes it topples loses the game. It was really exciting. Me, as the audience, enjoyed the most, watching them doing all sorts of WEIRD actions. :P One of them even opened up the door and scream "I love xxx (someone who is staying in the resort too)". And believe it or not? They did that in the middle of the night. Its 1:00 a.m. !!!!!
I didn't know that TEACHERS also make so much noise when they are not supposed to...LOL...I didn't sleep until it was 3:00 a.m.. Wheww, what a night.
The next morning, I went to the Damai restaurant and have breakfast with my mum. My mum got her free voucher because it comes together with room. I was supposed to pay for RM43.00 (adult price) for the breakfast. But things happened.
I walked into the restaurant and waited at the counter to be seated. There were several teachers and their families waiting there too.
When the waiter came and asked, "How many people altogether?"
Someone answered,"13 people, 11 adults, 2 children."
The waiter then asked who was the second children mentioned. A finger pointed to me. I was speechless.
The waiter asked in which form I am in. Someone, again, answered for me,"Tingkatan 1." The waiter nodded, as a sign of believing in what that "someone" has told him. Then, we are given the permission to enjoy the breakfast without having to pay for an extra diner, ME...
Actually, I was feeling happy and sad at the same time. Feeling happy because I don't have to waste my RM43.00 for the not-so-luxurious breakfast. Feeling sad because I am being "appointed" as a Form One student.....ARGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
Oh my God!!! Do I look like a 13-year-old little girl? For those who know me, please answer this question for me.
After the breakfast, my mum and I went to the beach and take a few magnificent pictures of the scenery. We headed back to Kuching at about 12:00 noon.
Below are some pictures taken during the trip :
